Wave Points is SQUID's new in-app feature that works as a digital rewards currency, available to users in the Republic of Ireland only, for now. 🇮🇪
Think of it as one rewards balance that follows you everywhere; instead of collecting a separate stamp card for every coffee shop, Wave Points lets you earn from a wide network of brands and businesses, all in one place, and spend them on things you'll actually want.
Find the Wave Points feature in the leftmost section at the bottom of your SQUID app screen, where the Wave symbol is!! 🥳
🌊 How do Wave Points work?
Wave Points work in three simple steps:
Earn points by spending with participating brands and businesses — in-store, online, or by buying prepaid vouchers in the app.
Build your balance — all points go into a single Wave Points wallet in the SQUID app, no matter how you earned them.
Redeem rewards — browse available rewards in the app and redeem them in-store by tapping the SQUID tag, just like a loyalty reward.
💡 Your Wave Points balance doesn't expire as long as your SQUID account stays active, so there's no rush to spend them the moment you earn them.
🛍️ How do I earn Wave Points?
There are three main ways to earn:
Pay Ahead — buy prepaid vouchers for participating brands directly in the SQUID app (think Tesco, Aldi, Ticketmaster, and more) and earn points instantly, before you've even spent the voucher.
Card linking — link your Visa or Mastercard once and earn points automatically every time you use it at a participating Wave Points partner. No tapping, no scanning — points are awarded on a successful transaction.
Shop online — click through to participating online retailers from within the SQUID app, shop as normal, and points are credited once your purchase is confirmed.
Note: Your card details stay secure throughout: SQUID never sees your full card number, and linking is handled directly through Visa and Mastercard's own secure networks. SQUID only detects that a transaction happened at a partner business — never what you bought.
How do I know which businesses I'll earn points at?
Open the SQUID app and navigate to the Wave section at the bottom of the screen, then click the Earn button:
For in-store partners, select View Nearby Offers to see a map and list of businesses near you.
For Partner Offers, you'll be able to scroll across to view these offers.
For online partners, select the View All button next to Online Offers to browse participating retailers.
Businesses are marked with one of three badges, depending on how you can earn at their business:
Prepaid Voucher 🎟️(pink voucher badge) — visible under View Nearby Offers, as well as the dedicated Prepaid Vouchers section in Wave Points. You'll earn points by buying a prepaid voucher for that business.
Linked Card 💳(green card badge) — visible under both View Nearby Offers and Online Offers. You'll earn points automatically just by paying with your linked card at these businesses, no extra steps needed.
Web Link 🔗(purple link badge) — visible under Online Offers. These partners (like Just Eat) don't need a linked card at all — just tap through to their website from the SQUID app, complete your purchase as normal, and you'll earn Wave Points for that transaction automatically.
Click into any partner on the page to see their exact points rate (e.g."4 Wave Points per €1").
💡 Some partners run limited-time multipliers (shown as 2x, 3x, etc. on their listing), so keep an eye out for boosted earning periods.
You can also earn bonus Wave Points by referring friends to SQUID, and through occasional promotional campaigns and special offers.

🎁 What can I redeem Wave Points for?
Wave Points can be redeemed for a range of rewards available in the SQUID app, including coffees, pastries, restaurant offers, vouchers, and more. Every reward has a Wave Points price — for example, a coffee might be listed as 300 Wave Points — so you always know exactly what you're working towards.
New rewards are added regularly, so it's worth checking back in the app.

🙋 Why Wave Points?
Wave Points rewards you for the spending you're already doing — there's no separate sign-up or loyalty card needed for each business. The more places you shop that participate in Wave Points, the faster your balance builds, and the more choice you have when it comes to redeeming.
You can also earn points and collect stamps on your loyalty card should a business be offering both loyalty and Wave Points! You'll still need to tap the SQUID tag to collect the stamp, as normal.
