1. What is Standard Metrics?
Standard Metrics simplifies investor relations for startups, offering investors a unified platform for portfolio finances, updates, and requests. It equips founders with tools for business management and investor engagement, including board templates, portfolio benchmarks, and key metrics.
2. Why Standard Metrics?
Our goal is to boost innovation in private markets by fostering founder-investor collaboration, which enhances success chances. Standard Metrics, a neutral intermediary, efficiently shares secure business metrics and requests between founders and investors. This allows founders to focus more on execution and less on reporting.
3. Why should I sign-up for Standard Metrics?
Investors are aligned with their portfolio companies and incentivized to work towards the company’s success. Standard Metrics integrates into your investor’s workflow, putting portfolio company financial metrics front and center and helping investors focus their time where it’s needed.
4. How much time will Standard Metrics require?
Initial setup can be completed in minutes. Time to complete quarterly (or monthly) requests from your investor varies by company. Standard Metrics is actively working to automate the reporting workflow on behalf of founders.
5. What financial information will investors have access to?
Portfolio companies have full control over their data: what, when, and how it is shared with investors. Cash in bank, net burn, and runway are standard KPIs founders share with their Investors—these are the same metrics Standard Metrics automates and updates on a monthly cadence.
6. Who controls the access to a startup’s information?
CEOs (along with their COOs, CFOs, etc.) are in full control of the information shared. Settings for financial accounts are accessible only to company members with the ability to disconnect the information at any time. Company members are also able to set the cadence for when metrics are updated.
7. How secure is Standard Metrics?
Security is central to the application. It uses 256-bit encryption along with 2-factor authentication and sign-in with Google or Outlook365. Standard Metrics does not see nor store credentials which are handled by the appropriate third-party integrations provider such as Plaid.
8. What about my other investors?
You can centralize engagement with all your investors through Standard Metrics, from sending an investor update to submitting quarterly financials. Your investor will be able to access any information shared without restrictions.
9. Who pays for access to Standard Metrics?
Investment firms cover the cost of Standard Metrics.
10. I received an invitation to join Standard Metrics. What are the next steps?
Click the link in your invitation email to sign up for Standard Metrics. Onboarding takes less than 5 minutes. Once complete, you will receive an information request via Standard Metrics from your investor during the previously agreed upon cadence (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual).
