How Do I Approve or Deny a Player Application?

Written by Mandycore the Manticore

When a player applies to join one of your games, you'll receive both an email notification and an on-site notification. You can then approve or deny their application from the Players tab on your Adventure page. Players are automatically notified of your decision.

πŸ“Œ Note: This only applies to games without Instant Book enabled. If Instant Book is on, players are accepted automatically without needing your approval. See What is Instant Book? for more detail.

How do I know when a player has applied?

When a player applies to join your game you will receive:

  • An email notification to your registered email address

  • An on-site notification in your StartPlaying account

How do I approve or deny a player application?

  1. Go to your Listings page

  2. Click on the Adventure the player applied to

  3. Go to the Players tab

  4. Find the player's application

  5. Click Approve or Deny

If you choose to deny the application, you will be asked to select a reason before confirming.

Players are automatically notified by email when you approve or deny their application.

Do I have to provide a reason when denying a player?

Yes. When denying a player application you must select a reason from the drop-down menu. You are also required to provide additional detail beyond selecting a reason.

How long do I have to respond to an application?

You have 1 week to approve or deny a player application.

We recommend responding as quickly as possible. Players who are waiting on approval may sign up for other games in the meantime.

What happens if I don't respond within 1 week?

If you do not approve or deny an application within 1 week, the application will expire and the player will be notified. No charge will be made to the player's account.

What if I want to turn off the approval process entirely?

Enable Instant Book on your Adventure to automatically accept all players without manual approval.

Games with Instant Book enabled also have a 30% higher conversion rate.

See What is Instant Book? for steps.
