How do I Edit a Player's Price in an Adventure?

How to lower your player's price, or raise it back up after a discount, for an Adventure

Whether you are giving a player a discount or adjusting the price for a free session zero, knowing how to adjust the price of individual players can be very useful, and it is much easier than you may think.

How do I give a player a discount?

  1. Go to your Listings page

  2. Click on your Adventure

  3. Click Players in the top left of the screen

  4. Click the three dots next to the player's name

  5. Click Change booking price

  6. Enter the new price

  7. Click Save

The Change Booking Price field will let you change a player's price to as low as $5 and as high as their initial booking price. Raising the price above their initial booking price will require authorization from the player.

Note: Changing this price effects all future sessions until you change it again.

How do I make a session free for a player?

  1. Go to your Listings page

  2. Click on your Adventure

  3. Click Players in the top left of the screen

  4. Click the three dots next to the player's name

  5. Click Change booking price

  6. Toggle on Next session free

  7. Click Save

The player will not be charged for their next session. Their price will automatically reset to the original rate after that session. No need to change it back manually!

How do I increase a player's price?

You can increase a player's price above their original booking rate, but this requires the player's approval.

  1. Go to your Listings page

  2. Click on your Adventure

  3. Click Players in the top left of the screen

  4. Click the three dots next to the player's name

  5. Click Change booking price

  6. Enter the new price

  7. Click Save

The player will receive a request to approve the price increase. They must approve it before the new price takes effect.

Price increase requests expire after 14 days. If the player does not respond, their price stays at the original rate.

Why is there a $5 minimum price?

StartPlaying requires a minimum charge of $5 per session to ensure payments are processed correctly through Stripe.

You cannot set a player's price below $5 using this tool. To make a session completely free, use the Next session free toggle instead.

What if I forgot to change the price back?

If you discounted a player's price and forgot to restore it, the discounted rate will continue applying to all future sessions. The best way to recover the difference is to ask your player to submit a custom payment. See How do I Give a Custom Payment to my GM? for steps.

If you use Next Session Free, the player's price will automatically reset after the session.
