My GM is unresponsive, ghosting me, or not showing up to sessions

What to do when your Game Master stops communicating, misses sessions, or cancels a campaign without notice.

We know how frustrating it is when a GM goes silent or stops showing up. Here's what you can do depending on your situation.

My GM missed a session without notice

If your GM didn't show up and a session was charged, you're entitled to a refund. Contact our support team via the chat below and include:

  • The name of the game/adventure

  • The date of the missed session

  • Confirmation that the GM did not cancel in advance

Our team will review and process a refund for that session. See our Refund Policy for full details.

My GM is not responding to messages

If you've sent messages through StartPlaying and haven't heard back in a reasonable time, here's what to do:

  • Wait 24 hours: GMs have lives outside the table, and response times vary

  • Check your game listing: some GMs post updates or communicate in session notes

  • Contact support if it's been more than 24 hours with no response and you have an upcoming session or an unresolved charge

My GM cancelled the campaign with little or no notice

If your campaign was cancelled and you had upcoming sessions you were charged for, you're entitled to a refund for those sessions. Contact our support team with the game name and the charges you'd like reviewed.

If the cancellation feels like it was in retaliation for feedback you gave, you can also report this through the chat below, that pattern of behavior is something we take seriously.

I want to leave the game and/or get a refund

If you're done with a game regardless of what happens next, see:

I want to report the GM

If your GM has been unresponsive, cancelled repeatedly without notice, or behaved in a way that felt unprofessional or harmful, you can report them to our team. See Reporting a User on StartPlaying for details on what happens when you do.
