Your Game Master profile is one of the first things players see before booking a game. A complete, high-quality profile helps players feel confident booking with you.

Fill Out Everything On Your Profile

Make sure that every section of your GM Profile is filled out. The more information players have, the better they can get to know you and your GMing style.

You’ll also notice a Custom Booking section. If you fill out this section, a button will appear on your profile letting players book you directly for custom games.

Choose a Great Profile Picture

Your profile picture is one of the most important parts of your profile!

Some best practices:

  • Use a real photo of yourself

  • Avoid logos or illustrations

  • Make sure the image is:

    • High quality

    • Well-lit

    • Not blurry or grainy

Bright, clear photos tend to perform better than dark or low-quality images.

Customize Your GM Link

  1. Click Share Your Profile on the Edit GM Profile Page

  2. Customize your link (use your GM name, or a brand name!)

  3. Click Create Link

πŸ“Œ Tip - if you change your link, your old link will no longer work! You'll need to resend a new link to everyone who had your old one.

Get Reviews From Your Past Players

You have access to a Review Link on your profile.

  • This link allows you to collect up to 20 unverified reviews from players outside of StartPlaying

  • Unverified reviews help build credibility and increase your review count

πŸ“Œ Pro Tip: You need at least 5 reviews to appear in Game Master Search.

You can learn more about verified vs. unverified reviews in this FAQ page: How Do I Get Reviews on StartPlaying?

What does my profile look like to a player?

Your GM Profile shows potential players the information you filled out about yourself as a GM, as well as:

  • Your reviews

  • Your number of years on StartPlaying

  • Your number of games hosted

    • Games hosted only counts your paid games hosted on StartPlaying.

    • Free games do not increase your number of games hosted

  • 3 tags that your players have rated you highly for
