How do I Sign Up as a Game Master on StartPlaying?

Step-by-step guide to becoming a Game Master on StartPlaying, from setting up your account to submitting your GM profile.

If you are reading this, ✨ congratulations ✨ You have begun down the path to becoming a professional Game Master (GM) on StartPlaying!

Step 1: Create a Player Account

You need to have a Player account on StartPlaying before you can become a Game Master.

Once you are signed in to your account:

  1. Click on your Profile Picture in the upper right corner of the screen

  2. Click Become a Game Master.

Step 2: Fill out the GM Application

All GM applications are manually approved by a member of the StartPlaying team.

The application lets us know about your style, experience, how you would handle common GMing scenarios, and your knowledge of the StartPlaying rules.


Application Tips

To create a strong application, make sure to:

  • Write detailed and well-thought-out responses for every application section.

  • Use the "About You" and "GM Style" sections to highlight your expertise and unique approach.

  • Focus on clear and professional communication, paying attention to spelling and grammar.

  • Review your application thoroughly for completeness and potential errors before submission.

  • Double-check that you've answered every question and provided specific details to make your application stand out.

  • Remember, first impressions matter—ensure your tone is professional and engaging.

Be sure to include:

  • A clear and eye-catching profile picture that shows off your personality.

  • Details about your GM style, how you run games, and your experience.

  • Any other details or highlights that help players get to know you.

Step 3: Read the Terms of Service & Code of Conduct

All users are required to follow our:

Step 4: Click “Submit for Review"!

Once your application is complete, click Submit for Review at the top of the page.

Your application will be reviewed in 10-15 business days.
