We make it easy to get you paid! We use Stripe to process payments to you, the Game Master, and from players booking games. Stripe is one of the most secure payment gateways on the internet.

Once you have signed up for an account and filled out your profile, you need to set up a Payouts Account.

How much are Game Masters paid?

All Game Masters on StartPlaying set their own rates and schedules. StartPlaying takes a 10% cut all the bookings on the site.

Note: On January 1st, 2025 the take rate will be increasing from 10% to 15%

What currency are my Players charged in?

All payments on StartPlaying are made in U.S. Dollars/USD.

How do payouts work for Game Masters?

Once you have set up your Payouts account, you can deposit your balance directly to your bank account.

  • It takes around 2-3 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) for it to show up in your bank account.

  • If you are an international GM (outside the U.S.), it can take 7-11 business days.

  • If it is your first payout ever, it takes around 5-7 business days.

When will my Players be charged?

Players are automatically charged one hour after the session start time.

To schedule sessions for your game, and make sure your players are charged, make sure you set your game from Pending to Active.

If you need to cancel your session, make sure you do so before then, or your players will be charged. Shortly after players are charged, you will see payment arrive in your payout account.

Can I take payment via Paypal/Venmo/etc.?

No, you cannot take payment off the website. If a game is listed on StartPlaying, then all payments for that game must be made on StartPlaying. Taking payment off the website is a violation of the Terms of Service and is grounds for permanent removal from StartPlaying.
