How Do I Block Someone?

Blocking a user prevents them from contacting you or joining your games. Here's how it works.

What does blocking do?

When you block a user on StartPlaying:

  • They cannot send you messages

  • They cannot join your games or book your sessions (if you're a GM)

  • They are not notified that they've been blocked

How do I block someone?

  1. Go to your Messages

  2. Click on the conversation of the person you want to block

  3. Click the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner

  4. Select Report Player

  5. In the Report Player form, choose Yes under "Would you like to block this person?"

  6. Click Send report

Note: You must have an existing conversation with someone to block them.

Can I unblock someone?

Users cannot currently unblock users directly.

If you would like to unblock someone, please use the chat beacon at the bottom of this page to contact our Support Goblins.

Should I also report the user?

Blocking prevents contact but doesn't flag the user's behavior to our team.

If the user has done something that violates our Code of Conduct, like harassment, spam, threats, or other policy violations, please also submit a report so our team can review it.

Reporting helps protect other members of the community. See How to Report a User for instructions.

ℹ️ Blocking and reporting are separate actions. You can block without reporting, but if safety is a concern, we encourage both.
