What is Landmark?

Landmark AML is a proven electronic AML customer due diligence system that has been designed to specifically meet anti-money laundering due diligence by interrogating a wide range of approved and independent data sources to enable users to reach a decision instantly, with confidence and certainty.

Landmark can be setup within your Street account allowing you to perform an AML check on vendors and sales applicants at the click of a button.

Landmark AML Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need an account with Landmark to use the integration?

    • No, you do not need an account with Landmark. Street handles everything for you.

  • How much do AML checks through Landmark cost?

    • Each identity check costs £3+VAT. Each ownership check costs £7+VAT (or £5 +VAT in Scotland).

    • So for example, if you had one vendor selling to one buyer and chose to do all checks via the Landmark integration and the property was in England, it would cost £10+VAT for the owner (identity and ownership) and £3+VAT for the buyer (identity) for a total of £13+VAT.

  • Who has access to submit an AML check?

    • Once the Landmark integration has been turned on in your network, all branches and all staff will have access to submit AML checks. There is currently no option of restricting this based on branches or roles/permissions.

  • How can I track how many checks have been completed / how much we are being charged?

    • Please contact us via Live Chat and we can share this information with you.

  • Is there a check for proof of funds?

    • The current integration does not include any automated proof of funds check. However this may be something we explore in the future.

  • Do your AML checks via Landmark check for PEPs and Sanctions?

    • Yes PEP and Sanctions are checked for during a Landmark AML check.

  • Does the integration support facial / biometric recognition checks?

    • This is not currently available by Landmark's API so is not supported via the integration however when Landmark adds this, we'll look to include it.

  • What happens if a check fails?

    • If a check fails, you can either choose to submit another check (for an additional £3+VAT, £5 +VAT or £7+VAT depending on which check and the property's location) or you can choose to manually pass the check by clicking 'update'.

  • What should I do if I have any questions on a PDF report that has been generated from a check?

    • Landmark can help with queries on the PDF reports. Please contact our dedicated Street - Landmark account manager Charlene Gaydon on charlene.gaydon@landmark.co.uk, including details of the property address, client name and PDF report.

  • If an AML check passes, do we still need to see our client's ID in person?

    • In low/normal risk transactions the AML check via Landmark is sufficient. However in high risk scenarios you would need to see their ID. The PDF report that is generated from the check will highlight if it is a high risk scenario.

  • Do the Landmark integration checks support overseas clients?

    • This is not currently supported via integration. For any individual that does not have a set UK address, you would have to run the check via Landmark directly. However please note, checks against clients in Jersey are supported by the integration.

  • What should I do if the AML check comes back with a status of 'refer'?

    • If an AML check comes back with a 'refer' it means there is a lack of electronic data linking the client to the address. In this case, you would need to get proof of address and ID manually.

  • How do I run an AML check against a company that owns a property?

    • AML checks are ran against the individuals with significant control in a company, not the company itself.

    • You need to search for the company here https://www.gov.uk/get-information-about-a-company and then check for the people with significant control. Once you have those details you need to add them as people against the company record so you can run an AML check against those individuals.
