Splitting Field Requests into Multiple Orders
Objective
Split a Field Request into multiple different orders.
Background
When an Material Field Request is elevated to the office from the jobsite it might contain numerous items. These items might need to be sourced from many different suppliers. Additionally, some of these items might need to be quoted by your suppliers, while others can be pushed right away into a Purchase Order. This article will help identify how to break out a single field requests into multiple different orders
Things to Consider
Field Requests can only be ‘split’ if they contain more than one item
Field Requests cannot be broken out into individual projects
When creating a Material Request, the first step is to ‘Select a Project’
Once a Field Request is split you will not be able to undo this action
Steps:
Splitting a Field Request
Click on the Field Requests section in your ‘Open Activities’
Click on the individual Field Request that you wish to split
Click on the split arrow in the top right corner ()
Select individual suppliers for each line item:
Note that here you will be able to see last prices offered by your suppliers if you took the time to create Supplier Catalogs
Note that you can only select one supplier per line. However, in the subsequent screen you will be able to change the ‘Action’ to ‘Request for Quote’ which will then allow you to select multiple suppliers to send the request to
Press ‘Continue’ after assigning a supplier to each item
Process each order
Note that the Field Request # that the order originated from will be stored against it and can be searched later
