Yes, you can upload a pre-recorded screen walkthrough video. But before producing a step-by-step manual (SOP = standard operating procedure), please first understand how Subanana actually works and where its limits are, so you can confirm it fits your needs.
Subanana is a speech-to-text tool — the video needs spoken narration
Subanana uses AI to convert the speech in a video or audio file into text. The system processes sound, not the picture. So if your screen walkthrough video has only visuals and no narration or spoken explanation (that is, it is muted or contains no speech at all), there is no speech content for the system to transcribe, and no corresponding text can be produced.
In other words, to produce text from a walkthrough video, the video must contain clear spoken narration that explains each step of the procedure.
The output is plain text — no screenshots are captured
Subanana's output is text files, including transcripts, subtitles, and — in meeting summary mode — an AI summary (which can organize key points, decisions, and action items). Export formats include subtitle files (.srt), Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx), and plain text (.txt).
The system does not capture screenshots from the video, nor does it automatically lay out screenshots and step text into an illustrated manual with images. What you get is a text version of the video's narration, not a ready-to-use illustrated SOP with operation screenshots. If you need a manual with screenshots, you will have to combine the text with the screens you need and lay it out yourself.
Recommended approach
If your walkthrough video has complete spoken narration, choose the "AI meeting summary" mode: alongside the transcript, the system produces a bullet-point AI summary you can use as the text foundation for writing your manual. If you need higher transcription accuracy, select the "High accuracy" transcription engine when creating the project (minutes are deducted at 1.5x the standard rate).
The Free plan only generates the first 15 minutes of each file; if your video is longer, you will need to upgrade to a paid plan to process the full video.
