Personalization Tags - Dynamic Data On Your Pages

Written by Swift

Introduction

Personalization tags allow you to dynamically display information across your website, funnels, and pages. They save you time by updating content globally when a value changes, and they create a more personalized experience for your visitors, whether through member data or URL parameters.

Why Use Personalization Tags?

  • Global Updates: Change a value once and it updates everywhere it’s used.

  • Personalized Experience: Display user-specific data such as names, emails, or company info.

  • Campaign Optimization: Pull data from email links or URLs to dynamically update landing pages.

Creating a Personalization Tag

  1. Go to Personalization Tags and click Create New.

  2. Give your tag a name (e.g., Email).

  3. Assign it a value (e.g., contact@domain.com).

  4. Save the tag.

Now, anywhere you insert this tag across your website, the system will automatically replace it with the assigned value.

Examples of Use

1. Static Content Replacement

  • Add a tag for your support email ({{email}}).

  • Place it in your header, footer, or anywhere on your site.

  • If you update the tag value later, it changes everywhere automatically.

2. Dynamic Member Personalization

  • If your site has a membership area, tags can pull from user profiles.

  • Example: Add a headline like “Welcome back, {{first_name}}!”

  • When Sarah logs in, the page shows “Welcome back, Sarah!”

3. URL Parameter Personalization

  • You can pass personalization data through links.

  • Example: yourdomain.com/?first_name=John

  • On the landing page, if you’ve placed the {{first_name}} tag, it will display “John”.

Best Practices

  • Use tags for contact details, offers, and common text that may need updating across multiple pages.

  • For campaigns, personalize landing pages with a user’s name or company passed from your email links.

  • Keep values short and relevant - avoid long text blocks in tags.

Personalization tags help you build smarter, more dynamic websites without repetitive edits. Whether it’s showing a user’s name, pulling campaign data from URLs, or keeping your contact info up-to-date everywhere, tags make your content more engaging and efficient.
