Sending SMS on Talisman is super easy - all you need to do is look for a hyperlinked mobile telephone number and click!

First, check if the Contact/Candidate you’re trying to send an SMS to has a mobile phone number, head to their profile page. On the left hand side, you’ll see a summary of the profile’s contact information.

Note, it’s possible to have multiple phone numbers - the one that will need to have been inputted in order to send an SMS is in the ‘Mobile’ field. If the phone number has a mobile phone icon on the left side of it and a chat icon on the right side, we know this is a mobile number.

If you need to enter a mobile number, simply click the edit icon in the top right corner of the section highlighted in the above screenshot and enter the phone number into the ‘mobile’ field.

In order to send your SMS, select the chat icon next to the mobile number and you’ll see a pop out window (shaped as a mobile phone) where you can type your text, use merge codes to pull the contact’s data into your message, select SMS templates, preview your message and send your message.

Sending Bulk SMS

There are a few ways to create a bulk SMS, the first way being via Favourites lists. We can create a favourites list via the star icon next to the profile name (as shown in the screenshot) and then either selecting the favourites list you’d like to add them to or creating a new list.

Once the favourites list is created/finalised, locate the favourites list using the star icon at the top of the window, next to the magic search bar (screenshotted) and select the list you wish to contact.

From here, select the three horizontal spots and then click ‘SMS All’.

An alternative way to send a bulk SMS is via a Job Shortlist or Search. Once you’ve created a job shortlist, the process is much the same as using favourites lists - select the horizontal dots and then click ‘SMS All Cands’.

Top Tip! It’s important to keep in mind that the option to send a bulk SMS will only work if all profiles in the list have a mobile number and ‘mailshot’ set to enabled. To ensure ‘Mailshot’ is set to enabled, open the candidate profile and select the edit icon in the top right corner of the Marketing section and set ‘Allow Mailshot’ to yes.

Now that mailshot is enabled for all profiles on the list, select SMS all as shown in the previous step and an SMS composer window will appear. From here, you can use SMS templates or type your message and use merge codes to pull the individual profile’s personalised data, preview and send your SMS.

Cost Per Text

Please note that while our SMS tool is able to send up to 480 character, it’s crucial to be aware of the associated costs to make informed decisions:

  • Up to 160 characters: Each segment of 160 characters is considered one message and costs 5p.

  • 161-320 characters: Messages that are between 161 and 320 characters are split into two segments and will therefore cost 10p.

  • 321-480 characters: For messages that fall between 321 and 480 characters, the message is split into three segments, costing 15p in total.

Depending on the volume of texts you send, the price per text may vary. Reach out to us via the Support Chat if you have any further questions on this.
