There are two different types of messages that you can send through your TalkingPoints account: an announcement or a direct message. Both have the same main functionalities; the difference is in your recipient options.
Announcements can be sent to one or multiple classes. In the recipients drop down menu, you will see your class names to select from. Family members can reply with a heart to like the message, or reply with a direct message that is only delivered to you. Announcements are perfect for when you want to share information with your entire class, such as sending your course syllabus, reminders about an upcoming test, or sending a poll to learn your families' preferences.
Direct messages can be sent to individuals or small groups of family contacts. In the recipients drop down menu, you will see your students' names to select from. Family members can reply with a direct message that is only delivered to you. Direct messages are best when you want to convey information about a specific student or group of students, such as good behavior, a great grade on a test, or teamwork on a project.
All announcements and messages can have up to 600 characters on TalkingPoints! This is to ensure that school and staff messages are not interrupted or broken up via text.
