When schools, families, and students work together greater impact can be made to improve student outcomes. Informed and engaged students gain even more agency over their education and success.
This capability will enable districts, schools & teachers to engage directly with students 13 years old or older via TalkingPoints. Follow the steps below to enable Student Messaging for schools in your district.
Screenshots below may look slightly different as TalkingPoints is constantly evolving! Don't worry, we periodically make sure our guides are up-to-date so that you have the latest how-to's.
Step 1: Click on 'Settings'
Step 2: Click on 'Student messaging'
Step 3: Click 'Check compatibility'
If your data is not compatible, you will receive a screen prompting you to contact our support team. By clicking on 'contact support', you will be added to an expedited queue with our data integration team to troubleshoot your data.
Step 4: Click 'Next'
Step 5: Click 'Select Schools'
Step 6: Select the schools that have students who are 13 years old or older and click 'Next'
Step 7: Enable group codes (optional) and click 'Done'
Step 8: Enable auto invite (optional) and click 'Save
If enabled, invitations to join TalkingPoints will go out to all students 13 years or older after the nightly sync, and thereafter to any student the day after their 13th birthday once the nightly sync checks their date of birth eligibility and pulls their email address into our system. This applies to existing students who just turned 13 years old or newly added/enrolled students who are 13 years or older.
If you would like to have more control over when the first invite goes out to students, you may enable the automatic invite the day before you want invites to be sent to eligible students. (i.e. If you want invites to go out on July 1, enable auto invite on June 30).
Step 9: Wait for the nightly sync to bring in the student emails and identify students who are 13 years old or older. Once that is complete, click 'Next'.
Step 10: Invite students by following the on-screen instructions. You can also refer to this article.
