Once student school email addresses and date of births (DOBs) have been shared with TalkingPoints through your preferred data-sharing method, district admin, school admin, and technical school admin can send invitations to students via email so the students can verify their accounts.
Screenshots below may look slightly different as TalkingPoints is constantly evolving! Don't worry, we periodically make sure our guides are up-to-date so that you have the latest how-to's.
Step 1: Click on 'Students'.
Step 2: Use the student status filter to find all students who are "not invited".
Step 3: Select the students whom you would like to invite using the checkboxes or "select all" button.
Step 4: Click "invite".
TalkingPoints will run a check to see if all selected students are eligible (13 years old or older and we have their email addresses).
You will get a message indicating how many of the selected students are eligible.
Step 5: Confirm that you would like to send invitations to selected eligible students by clicking "send".
Students will receive the following email in English from noreply@talkingpts.org:
If none of the selected students are eligible, this is either because they do not meet the eligibility criteria (13 years old or older) or your school or district is not sharing student email addresses with TalkingPoints. If the latter, please reach out to your data-sharing lead to share student email addresses.
School-level users will have access to the unique student codes students receive via email to help students use their unique codes to join TalkingPoints.
Step 1: Click on Students
Step 2: Use the Student Status filter to search for students marked as "Pending"
Step 3: Click Download
Use the resulting list to share students' unique codes with them so they can join TalkingPoints.
Students who are in the "Pending" status and wish to join by SMS text can text their unique 12-digit code to 618-814-4300 to join TalkingPoints.
