Families might request to have their language, name or phone number updated. While families can preform these actions in the TalkingPoints Families app, some may need additional help, or are not able to make the changes because they are subscribed via SMS text. Read on below to edit information for family contacts.
If you cannot edit more than the contact's language, this means your school is using an integration to sync data to TalkingPoints. Contact your school to make the changes in the Student Information System (SIS). After 2 days, the changes will appear in TalkingPoints.
Web
Method 1: Classes tab
Step 1: Go to your 'Classes' tab.
Step 2: Select the class the family contact is in.
Step 3: Click on the student the family contact is related to.
Step 4: Identify the family contact, and click the three dots next to their name.
Step 5: Select 'Edit contact.'
Step 6: Make the changes, then click 'Save.'
Method 2: From a conversation
Step 1: From the classes tab, select the conversation of the related student you want to edit.
Step 2: Click the three dots.
Step 3: Select 'Edit student details.'
Step 4: Identify the family contact, and click the three dots next to their name.
Step 5: Select 'Edit contact.'
Step 6: Make the changes, then click 'Save.'
Mobile app
Method 1: Classes tab
Step 1: Go to your 'Classes' tab.
Step 2: Select the class the family contact is in.
Step 3: Select 'Students,' then tap on the student the family contact is related to.
Step 4: Identify the family contact, and tap the three dots next to their name.
Step 5: Select 'Edit contact.'
Step 6: Make the changes, then tap 'Save.'
Method 2: From a conversation
Step 1: Select the relevant conversation.
Step 2: Tap the three dots next to the student's name.
Step 3: Select 'Student details.'
Step 4: Identify the family contact, and tap the three dots next to their name.
Step 5: Select 'Edit contact.'
Step 6: Make the changes, then tap 'Save.'
