.csv Error Key

Updated this week

When uploading your .csv files into the TalkingPoints Self-Serve .csv Uploader, you will see rows of data. You hope to see all green checkmarks. However, if you see any Red X’s this indicates that row of data has one or more errors. If you hover over the Red X, a pop up will show the type of error(s).

To see the list of errors and the number of times those errors occurred in the .csv file, click on “See Details” in the red banner at the bottom of the page.

The following table describes the errors and how to resolve them. In order to fix the errors, please go to your spreadsheet, you should use the error messages to adjust the data in the original source (your spreadsheet) before downloading the tab that had the error as a .csv file and re-uploading it using our .csv Uploader. Once errors are corrected go to Step 2 and Step 3 of the Self-Serve .csv Uploader Guide article.

“_____ field is required.”

This means that a necessary piece of information is missing from your spreadsheet that we need to create your accounts.

Review your spreadsheet to ensure that information is included. Each column should be populated unless indicated as optional.

“The following classes are missing from the classes table...”

This means that you have a class listed under the student or staff tab that is not listed under the class tab.

Add the missing class to the class tab or remove it from the student and/or staff tab.

“___ has a duplicate on the table.”

There is information that has been repeated in the spreadsheet.

Review the spreadsheet and remove any duplicates.

“___ have a duplicate (same student ID and phone).”

This means that there are multiple rows with the same student ID and contact phone numbers.

Delete any duplicate rows. This will also flag for students with multiple contacts who are listed with the same phone number.

“Another row has same student ID but different student information.”

This means that a student is listed on multiple rows with different information in Columns B-E.

Check Columns B-E to ensure that all of the information is consistent (name, ELL status, classes).

“Another row in staff table has same ID but different user information.”

This means that an ID on the staff tab has been included more than once.

Ensure that each staff member has their own ID number. If they’re listed on the admin tab, don’t include them on the staff tab.

“___ has an invalid phone number.”

The number listed isn’t acceptable in its current format.

Ensure that the number listed is 10-digits long.

“ ___ has an invalid email address.”

The email address does not have a valid email address format.

Ensure that the email address listed is a valid email address.
