What Are Positive Messages?

Updated over a week ago

A Quick Look

Positive Messages are short, encouraging notes that teachers send home to celebrate your child’s growth, effort, or kindness. These messages help you know what’s going well at school—and give your child a moment to shine! 🎉

Why Am I Getting These Messages?

Teachers use TalkingPoints to stay connected with families. When they send a message marked as positive, it means they’re sharing something great your child did!

These messages might highlight:

  • Hard work or improvement 📚

  • Helping others or showing kindness 💖

  • Showing up ready to learn 🎒

What Does It Look Like?

If you’re using the TalkingPoints Family app, you’ll see:

  • A fun confetti celebration when a positive message is sent 🎊

  • The message itself, just like any other message from your teacher

If you use text messages (SMS), you’ll still get the message—just without the confetti.

Why Do Positive Messages Matter?

When schools and families celebrate students together:

  • Kids feel proud and motivated

  • Families stay in the loop about classroom wins

  • Communication is stronger when tough topics come up later

Positive Messages are part of building trust and partnership between families and teachers.

Do I Need to Reply?

Nope! You don’t need to reply—but you’re always welcome to say “Thank you!” or share your own message back.

What If I’m Not Seeing These?

If you're not getting any messages or you only get class-wide updates, your child’s teacher might not have sent a Positive Message yet—or you might not be fully connected.

📌 To check:

  • Make sure your contact info is up to date with the school

  • Download the TalkingPoints Family app for the best experience
