Configure Your Automated Call Phone Number

Learn how District and School Admins can select, update, and verify the phone number used for automated calls in TalkingPoints.

Updated today

For: District Admins & School Admins
Platform: Web

Overview

Admins with the right permission can choose which phone number TalkingPoints uses when sending automated calls. You can replace the system-assigned number with your district or school’s own number — as long as you can validate it by answering a verification call.

This number is used for all automated calls, including broadcast notifications and emergency alerts.

View and Manage Your Automated Call Number ☎️

Who Can Access This Setting?

You’ll find the Automated Call Phone Number section in your Settings if your admin role includes access to automated calling features.

Here’s what you can expect based on your access level:

All District and School Admins with Settings Access

  • Can view the current automated call number

  • May see this section in read-only mode if their role doesn’t allow number changes

Admins Allowed to Configure the Phone Number

If your role includes permissions to manage automated call settings, you will also see the Change Phone Number button and can complete the full setup flow.

This typically includes:

  • District Admins

  • School Admins (in institution-only partnerships)

If You Don’t See the Change Button

Your current role does not include access to configure the automated call phone number. Please reach out to your institution's TalkingPoints administrator if you think you need this access.

About Automated Call Numbers 🔍

  • TalkingPoints assigns your district or school a system-generated phone number during setup.

  • You can choose to replace this with your own number — one you already own.

  • All automated calls use the same number:

    • Emergency alerts

    • Broadcast calls

  • Configuring a custom number does not change anything else about automated calling.

📌 Note: During initial enablement, partners can still request a system-assigned number with a local area code. Configuring a custom number later simply replaces it.
