Metered Pricing

Metered pricing feature description

Let the fare follow the journey—just like a traditional taxi meter

For trips where flexibility matters more than fixed pricing, metered pricing allows fares to be calculated during the ride. Ideal for on-demand services, this approach reflects real-time conditions instead of pre-set estimates.

How it helps your business

  • Enables pricing for trips where the final route or duration is unknown at booking time

  • Ideal for operations where fares are determined during the ride instead of beforehand

  • Supports workflows where drivers control or input the final fare after completion

  • Allows flexibility for open-ended trips (multiple stops, waiting, detours)

  • Aligns with traditional taxi operations where pricing is finalized post-trip

How it works

A booking comes in—either through your Web Booker or entered manually by your operator. Unlike fixed pricing, no fare is locked at this stage.

  • The job is created and assigned to a driver without a predefined price

  • The driver starts the trip and uses a taxi meter or follows standard local fare rules

During the ride:

  • The fare increases based on distance, time, waiting time, and applicable surcharges

  • Any real-world factors—traffic, route changes, delays—are naturally reflected in the meter

At the end of the trip:

  • The driver reads the final meter value

  • This amount is entered into the system through YourDriverApp

  • The recorded fare becomes the official trip price for that job

This ensures pricing is:

  • Accurate to the actual journey, not an estimate

  • Aligned with local taxi regulations or meter standards

  • Flexible enough to handle unpredictable routes or conditions

In short, the system tracks the job—while the meter determines the truth of the fare.
