Changing your SMS sender ID

How to change the name your school's SMS messages come from. Support makes the change, it takes 24 to 48 hours, and paid plans only.

Written by Abdullah Al-Hussein

The sender ID is the name that appears on a recipient's phone when they receive an SMS from your school. It is set by Teach 'n Go support, not from your own settings.

Your school may use different names for students, teachers and classes. If you don't see the menu items below, ask your admin to check your permissions.

Seeing your current sender ID

Go to School settings → Communication → SMS settings. The Sender ID field shows the name your messages are sent from. It also appears in the From field when you compose an SMS.

The field is read-only. You cannot type a new sender ID there yourself.

Changing your sender ID

  1. Choose the name you want, up to 11 characters.

  2. Send it to support through the chat in the bottom corner.

  3. Wait for confirmation — the new sender ID has to be approved by the SMS provider, which usually takes 24 to 48 hours.

Rules and limitations

  • Paid plans only — the sender ID cannot be changed during a free trial

  • 11 characters maximum — longer names are not accepted

  • Some countries ignore it — in the United States, for example, recipients may see a phone number instead of your sender ID

To buy messages, see Add SMS credits.
