As well as using the Dashboard for your geofencing and geotagging projects, you can also utilise its features to improve your location awareness, track-side.
By following a few simple steps, use the geofencing technology to support the safety of your teams. Let's dive in π
What is location awareness?
Location awareness means knowing exactly where something or someone is at a given time.
Location awareness is essential for track worker safety to help prevent accidents. By knowing their exact location, workers can stay clear of open lines, and teams can be coordinated effectively, keeping everyone in designated safe zones.
Location awareness can be enhanced by using geofencing technology to track positions in real-time.
How to use the Dashboard to increase location-awareness
Before getting started, you'll need:
Dashboard account
Tablet or compatible portable device with internet connection
Safe access point information
Head to the access point: use the access point information to head to the designated access point
Open the Dashboard: use your tablet to log in to the Tended Dashboard
View project: find the correct project and click "View project"
View live map: click the "Live map" tab and view the site with its safe zones
Toggle on the ELR layer on the Dashboard:
Rotate the map to match your site viewpoint: using your access point signage, use the rotate icon to spin the map so the safe zones on the screen match your physical viewpoint
You can now use this view to brief your teams on the safe zones within the site, in relation to your precise surroundings.
Following the above steps will give you a better understanding of the site and its safe zones, making sure you access and move around the safe working limits correctly.
