How do I reduce false events?

Ways to improve the response and accuracy of your video analytics

As standard, the TetherBox has basic foreground/background detection that errs on the side of caution and is designed to be very sensitive in order to not miss any events. We recommend setting up additional analytics in order to reduce the number of "false" events (i.e. minor changes that are of no relevance to your particular situation), especially when using this in a control room or police response setting.

Enabling Cloud Analytics / Machine Learning

As well as any analytics provided by your camera or recorder, TetherX allows you to utilise cloud analytics which can provide more advanced functionality such as object classification or detecting if a person is wearing a face mask for example.

Built-In Tools for Reducing False Events

Using a Custom Image Mask

If you are only interested in certain areas of your camera view (e.g. the entrance but not the busy road beyond), you can mask out parts of the image. Please see How do I add a Custom Mask to a Camera? for more information.

Modify which notifications you receive

You can manage the volume of notifications sent out by TetherX by controlling which push notifications and emails are sent. Please see How do I set up analytics notifications? for more information.

Use Time-lapse Images

This will not reduce false events, but it is a useful tool to have in your arsenal. If you have set up analytics but you are missing specific events, TetherX still records 24/7 and allows you to jump to any period in time using our time-lapse feature.
