Workspace Level (People tab)
This is where you invite clients into your workspace and choose which projects they can access.
Project Level
Inside a project, clients appear under Project Settings → Members.
They will only ever see the projects you assign to them.
Clients can view:
Tasks you’ve made visible to them
Their invoices
Files shared with them
Forms attached to their tasks
Project chat (if enabled)

What Clients See in Their Portal
The portal is intentionally simple and intuitive so your clients always know where to go next.
Clients can access:
Your branded welcome message
Their assigned tasks
Task due dates and deadlines
Attached forms and files
Their invoices and payment history
Project calendar (depending on the layout)
Project chat (if enabled)
Your branding (logo, colors, fonts) automatically applies to the entire portal.
Client Portal Layout Options
Each project can use one of three layout options:
Standard
Includes welcome message, tasks, invoices, calendar, and chat. Most designers use this view.
Timeline
Groups tasks by due date and highlights upcoming deadlines.
Chat
Minimal layout with your welcome message and project chat only.
Customizing the Client Portal
To customize your portal message and layout:
Step 1: Go to Settings
Step 2: Click Client Portal
Step 3: Choose your layout
Step 4: Add or edit your welcome message
Step 5: Save
All visual branding (logo, colors, fonts) is controlled under Manage → Appearance.
Add Quick Links to Your Client Portal
You can also add quick links that appear across the top of every client portal. These are great for sharing resources like your FAQ page, onboarding packet, or your main website.
To add quick links:
Step 1: Go to Settings → Client Portal
Step 2: Scroll to the Quick Links section
Step 3: Add your link title and URL
Step 4: Save
📌 Important: Quick links are currently universal and appear on every project’s client portal. They are not project-specific yet. Only add links that make sense across all client projects,
💡 Coming soon: The team is working on project-specific quick links, so you’ll be able to share things like Google Drive folders, contracts, or onboarding docs unique to a single client.
Controlling What Clients Can See
You have full control over what appears in the client portal.
Tasks
Every task has a “Hide from client” toggle.
Use this for internal work, prep tasks, or anything clients don’t need to see.
Files
Files are visible unless stored inside a hidden task or in a private folder.
Chat
Clients only have access to the project chat, never the internal team chat.
Invoices
Clients see only the invoices connected to their specific project.
Previewing the Client Portal
Before inviting your client, you can preview the portal to make sure everything looks correct.
To preview:
Open any project → Click Client Portal Preview in the top right corner
Use this to confirm:
Task visibility
Welcome message formatting
File organization
Invoice presentation
💡 Pro tip: Preview the portal for every new project type to make sure the client experience feels clean and intentional.
After Inviting Your Client
Once your client has access, you can start sharing:
Tasks and due dates
Feedback forms
Files and deliverables
Invoices and payment plans
Meeting links and events
Chat updates
Inviting your client is the final step that brings your project to life on the client-facing side.
