Thrive's Client Portal is a dynamic, data-rich command center that allows for seamless collaboration. Our newest version offers a modern design that makes candidate data more accessible and actionable for your hiring teams.
What Are the Key Features?
1. Optimized Candidate Visibility
The candidate list is now much more condensed.
By reducing the size of candidate cards, clients can now see approximately 6–7 candidates on a single screen, compared to only 3–4 in the previous version.
Additionally, "badges" now appear on candidate cards to alert users to existing assessments, notes, references, or resumes at a glance.
2. The Project Summary Panel
Upon loading a search, a new Project Summary panel provides instant metrics:
Candidate Counts: An overall count of candidates, broken down by their current stage.
Average Compensation: A calculated average of candidate compensation based on position records.
3. New Functionality
Shared References: Clients can now view a dedicated "References" tab for candidates if those references have been specifically shared by the search team.
Aggregated Interviews: Instead of hunting through individual profiles, clients can see all upcoming interviews across the entire project in one central place.
Project Updates: This feature allows recruiters to share weekly agendas or general search summaries directly within Thrive, reducing reliance on external emails.
Deep Linking: You can now send a link that routes a client specifically to a single candidate and a specific tab within their profile.
💡 How to Walk a Client Through the Demo
When introducing the new portal to your clients, make it a value-add: These changes bring greater efficiency and better visibility. Here is a step-by-step demo flow you tailor for your clients.
Demo Script Template
We’ve redesigned the Client Portal to be faster, cleaner, and built to give you more data at a glance.
Step 1: Start with the Big Picture (Project Summary)
Direct their attention to the right-hand side of the screen.
What to say: "We now have a Project Summary panel. You can instantly see a breakdown of your pipeline in this pie chart. If applicable to your search, you can also see the calculated average compensation for the candidates in your pipeline. This data is sourced from…
Step 2: Highlight the Streamlined Candidate List
Show them how much more they can see without scrolling
What to say: "Notice how you can now see 6 to 7 candidates on your screen at once, instead of just 3 or 4? We’ve also added visual 'badges' right on the candidate cards. Instead of clicking into every profile to see if there's a resume, scorecard, or reference, you can spot these icons immediately."
Step 3: Reveal Interviews & References
Show them where the scattered data now lives.
What to say: "You no longer have to hunt for scheduled interviews. They are all aggregated in one central place for this project. We also have a brand-new Shared References tab, where my team can publish key reference feedback directly to your view."
How To Invite Clients to the Portal
Navigate to the Project
Opening the Project side panel (click on the Project Name)
Scroll to the "Team" tab
Find the person-mail icon and click Invite Hiring Manager
Existing Users: Users type the name, select the user, and click "Invite"
New Users: Users type the name, click "+ Add [name]", then enter contact details
Security and Permissions
It is vital to configure roles correctly before inviting clients to ensure they only see appropriate data.
Sharing Project Notes: Recruiters must manually mark project notes and references as "viewable by hiring manager" for them to appear in the portal.
Compensation Visibility: If a client or search team is uncomfortable with displaying compensation data, Admins can assign a "Hiring Manager No Comp" role to restrict this visibility.
Candidate Privacy: Clients only see candidates they have been explicitly granted permission to view. By default, they cannot see private notes or scorecards from other internal users unless shared.
FAQ from Thrive Training Sessions
Client Login Process: The login workflow remains completely unchanged. Clients will receive an email invite, click the link, and immediately see the new portal view upon logging in.
Customizing Stage Names: Currently, the portal directly mirrors the exact stage names used internally in your Thrive pipeline.
Manual Scorecard Notifications: Manually inputting a scorecard on behalf of a client who doesn't use the links does not trigger an automatic email alert to the client.
Terminology (Scorecards vs. Assessments): "Scorecards" is our internal name, but they are called "Assessments" in the client view. Terminology wasn't aligned for this specific release, but it is a highly requested suggestion that the product team is considering for future alignment.
Assessment Document Editing: We recognize that default outputs aren't always tailored enough for high-level clients, such as large banks or boards. The product team is actively exploring solutions for editable documents so teams can edit directly in the PDF and re-upload.
Common Questions From Clients
1. I can't log in...how do I troubleshoot?
If you need an account created or don’t see the project you’re expecting, reach out to your search team or Thrive support to confirm access has been granted.
2. How do I leave a note?
Click on the candidate's name and you will see a side-panel appear on the right. Find the Actions button and select "Add Note" from the dropdown menu. You can also find the Notes tab and add from there.
3. How do I thumbs up or down a candidate?
You’ll see both the thumbs up and thumbs down icons on the candidate’s badge on the project page. Clicking either button will document your selection and increase the count. These badges provide quick visibility so our team can see your feedback in real time.
4. How is compensation calculated? Where is that data pulling from?
The compensation figure is an average pulled directly from the Thrive database. It is calculated based on the compensation data tied to the candidates' "primary position." Important note: There is no minimum threshold; if even just one candidate on the project has compensation tied to their primary position, that single number will display as the project average, should you choose to display compensation.
