Create & Edit a Person

In this article we will cover how to create a new Person in Thrive as well as an overview of the profile.

Written by Kim

When logged into your Thrive system, you can access all of the existing People in your system from anywhere in the application via the People icon on the left edge of the screen.

Create a new Person

When you need to add someone into your Thrive system, you can do this from anywhere in the application via clicking the + icon in the top right corner of the application and selecting “Create new Person”.

After clicking this, a right side panel will open, this is where we will create the new Person in Thrive. As a first option, you can use a Resume or Linkedin PDF to parse the individual into Thrive. Drag and drop or select the document you want to parse, if you are creating with this option.

When parsed, the First Name, Last Name and either the Linkedin URL or Email will appear in Thrive; if creating the person without parsing, enter this information manually here.

Thrive will then show possible existing profiles that match the information you’ve entered/parsed, if you see the person you are trying to add, click Select Person and then Continue.

The Person profile is now created in Thrive.

Tip: Thrive also has a Chrome Extension to help create People in your Thrive system, learn more about this here.

Contact Info

Clicking the pencil icon on the right side of the side panel will open the Contact Information for the individual, where you can add additional Locations, Email Addresses, Phone Numbers and more.

  • Tip: The edit pencil icon will only appear when dragging the cursor to its location on the Person's profile. This is the top right corner of the main card including their avatar and name.

  • Users can now record their language skills under the demographics section of their profile.

  • Clicking the LinkedIn icon on a candidate’s profile opens their LinkedIn page in a new browser tab. Right-clicking the icon allows you to copy the LinkedIn URL directly.

    • Users with edit permissions can directly update a candidate’s LinkedIn URL from the profile page by clicking into the LinkedIn field and saving changes.

Rocket Reach Integration:

  • You can now view contact information prominently at the top of the profile.

  • Click "Search RocketReach" to see which details are already present and sync new contact details (emails, phone numbers) with the click of a button.

Candidate Tags:

  • Applying Tags: You can now apply pre-defined, color-coded tags to candidates to improve team coordination. These tags are managed by your Admins to ensure consistency across the organization.

  • Filtering: Within a project, you can filter by "Candidate tags" to focus on specific groups of candidates.

  • Visibility: These tags are strictly for internal use and are not visible to clients or hiring managers.

  • Note: Bulk tagging (applying tags to multiple candidates at once) is coming in a future release.

Overview

If an Overview of the Person doesn’t already exist, you can use the Generate Person Summary button for the system to generate one. This summary is generated by AI, so consider reviewing and editing as needed. You also can add Data Privacy Preferences (where applicable) to track if consent is/was provided by the individual for their data to be in your Thrive system. FInally, you can add Preferences for the individual, such as if they are open to new positions at the moment.

Experience & Education

Experience & Education history will pre-populate from both a parsed document or Chrome Extension (if applicable). This history is shown when clicking on Experience in the side panel. This data is editable, when needed, by clicking on the pencil icon.

  • Note on Location Display: To ensure candidate profiles remain clear and accurate, Company Headquarters locations are no longer displayed on individual experience records. This prevents confusion between a candidate's physical location and the company's global headquarters.

Notes

Any existing notes will show when clicking on Notes in the side panel. To add a Note, click Add Note or the + icon. A new slide-out panel will appear, allowing you to scroll through the candidate's existing info while writing.

In the Related to field you can tag this note to any Person, Project or Company it relates to.

Sharing & Visibility: Use the Split Button to set visibility.

Default: Notes default to Internal (shared with your organization).

Share: Click the chevron on the button to open the sharing modal and update permissions for External (Hiring Manager) users.

Visual Indicators: Icons to the left of the note subject indicate the note type (e.g., Rejection, Hiring Manager). Icons to the right indicate sharing status:

Globe: Visible to Everyone (including Hiring Managers).

People Outline: Visible to Internal Team only.

Lock: Unpublished Draft.

Threaded Replies: You can now reply directly to notes left by colleagues and clients.

  • Nesting: Replies will appear nested below the original note, creating a clear conversation thread.

  • Collaboration: Both internal team members and external clients (if the note is shared) can reply back and forth.

Scorecards

If this individual is a candidate in a Project in your Thrive system where a Scorecard was completed, you will be able to view and edit that Scorecard on the individual’s record here. Please see this article for more details on Scorecards.

Events

Create an Event with the individual from this tab (examples of Event types include Interviews and Screening Calls) then optionally use the Google/Outlook Integration to send the Event invite directly from Thrive.

Projects & Lists" (Formerly "Associations"):

This will show the Projects and Lists this individual is already a part of in your Thrive System.

  • If a candidate has been rejected from a project, the specific Rejection Reason is displayed directly on this tab. You can view this context immediately without needing to click into the specific project.

  • Move stages right from the Projects table by clicking the icon on the right. This opens the move stage modal and lets you change the status of candidates without needing to go into each project.

    • Quick Reject: The "Move Stage" dropdown now includes a "Rejected" option, allowing you to reject candidates directly from the Projects & Lists table without navigating into the full project view.

  • View the highest stage reached by a candidate, even if it is not their current stage. Rejection is considered the lowest stage so you will be able to see what stage they got to prior to being rejected.

Other

Click the "Other" dropdown to access:

  • Activities: View a chronological timeline of key actions taken on a person, such as notes, outreach, scorecards, and project movements.

    • You can filter by specific projects or activity types to narrow down the timeline and find exactly what you are looking for.

    • This tab is for internal team use only and is not visible to Hiring Managers.

  • Compensation: Track Current and Desired compensation for the individual including Equity and Total Compensation.

  • Connections: When two people in your Thrive system know each other, you can denote this relationship via a Connection; including personal, professional & reporting relationships.

  • Documents: Click to Upload or drag and drop your documents. After loading your document, the name can be edited and a Document Type must be chosen before the document can be saved to Thrive. Please see this article for more details.

    • In Thrive 2.0, you can now also add links to documents. To do this, select Click to add links, you can use this if the document exists on the internet instead of locally saved to your computer.

  • Events: Create and view interviews or screening calls.

  • Off Limits: See a list of current Off Limit tags as well as apply new Off Limits tags

  • Reference/Referral: To add a Reference or Referral to a person profile, select the Reference/Referral from the drop down and then Add a Reference or Referral link. Choose from Reference or Referral at the top of the page and fill out the details below. A Company can also be selected as a detail for a Referral. When finished select the Add button.

Note that the items added here will also display on the Connections window

    • References and referrals you add to candidate profiles are NOT visible to clients in the Hiring Manager view
