Competition Rules
Competition Rules
The rules will vary slightly between competitions but most if not all will have a variation of the following rules.
Only correct answers given within the ‘competition period’ will count towards the competition.
Each player will have a daily time limit. The means they can only play for ‘x’ amount of minute each day (typically 60 minutes). If they play for longer than ‘x’ minutes any games played after daily limit will not contribute to the competition score.
Each class needs a minimum of ‘x’ players (typically 10). If fewer than 10 in the class play in the competition their total score will be divided by 10 regardless.
No mid-competition class changes. Once the competition starts you will not be allowed to change which classes are enrolled in the competition or which students are part of each class.
No creating classes specifically for the competition. You are not permitted to create a new class with your top performing students.
No setting easy tables. You are not permitted to set ‘easy tables’ for your class during the competition period. Maths Circle will determine the definition of ‘easy tables’ on a case by case basis. To provide an example: a set 1 class of year 6’s should not have been set the 10 times tables only.
For a full list of rules for the competition you are taking part in please visit the specific webpage for your competition which can be found here.
