Creating and Managing Projects

Updated over a month ago

Projects are where the magic happens in Tinkery. Each one acts as a dedicated workspace where you can combine data sources, set project-specific context, and start asking questions in natural language.

Step-by-step: How to create your first Project

1. Go to the Projects module

Click the ๐Ÿ“ Projects icon (third from the top) in the left-side navigation bar.

2. Click โ€œ+ Create Projectโ€

You'll find this button in the top-right corner.

3. Name your Project

Pick something meaningful (e.g. โ€œQ2 Lead Pipelineโ€).

4. Describe your Project

This is key: your description helps the AI understand what your project is about. Example:

_"This project contains campaign data for Q2 2025. I want to identify conversion patterns, broken links, and optimize budget allocation."_

5. Add a data source

You can choose an existing source or upload a new CSV/Excel file.

6. Choose tables to import

Tinkery will display available tables. Pick the ones that matter for this project.

7. Describe each table

Example:

_"This table includes all invoices. Fields include invoice ID, subtotal, tax, and client company name in EUR."_

8. Let Tinkery process your data

Tinkery makes a project-specific copy, so edits won't affect your original file.

Thatโ€™s it! Your Project is now live and ready for analysis.

Tips for Managing Projects

  • ๐Ÿ”„ You can update project context or table descriptions anytime.

  • ๐Ÿ“š One data source can be reused in multiple projects.

  • ๐Ÿ” Use tags and labels to organize your workspace.

Once your Project is active, head to the Workbench and start asking questions like:

> "How many leads from March converted to SQLs?"

> "Show me a chart of MQLs by source over time."

> "Which accounts have had no activity in the last 30 days?"
