How to Link a Data Source to an Existing Project

Updated over a week ago

Added a new data source or want to use an existing one in another Project? No worries, Tinkery lets you connect multiple data sources to a Project at any time. The process is quick and familiar, with just a slight twist.

Here’s how to do it:

1. Go to the Projects Module

Click the Projects icon (4th from the top) in the left-hand navigation bar.

2. Select the Project

Find the Project you want to add the data source to, then click the ➕ Add Data Source icon on the far right.

3. Select a Data Source

You’ll be taken to the familiar “Add Data Source” step — just like when creating a new Project.

  • ✅ Choose from your list of connected data sources

  • ✅ Or upload a new one if needed

4. Choose a Dataset

From the selected data source, choose the dataset(s) you want to link to this Project.

5. Describe the Dataset

Give a short description of the dataset — this helps Tinkery's AI better understand the context of your data and speed up schema detection.

Note: Clear, descriptive context = smarter insights from the start.

6. Let Tinkery Process Your Data

Tinkery will process and extract your tables automatically. Sit tight — this usually takes just a few seconds.

7. You’re Done!

Your dataset has been added to your existing Project. You can now use it in the Workbench for analysis, transformations, or reporting.

What’s Next?

Now that your Project has fresh data, you can:

➡️ Start exploring it in the Workbench

➡️ Merge it with other tables

➡️ Or build custom dashboards using Tinkery’s AI tools
