What is the "View Update History" feature on the Order Details page for?

Answer

This feature is useful if you want to view information about a specific payment transaction, such as transaction type, date and time of the transaction, name of the person who processed the transaction, if loyalty was applied to the order, and other important information that is not available in the Order Details report.

Please take note of the following when using this feature:

  • This feature may be missing some updates.

  • Red checks and detached payments will not show up.

  • Updates are only stored for two weeks. Thereafter, it will be permanently deleted.

  • Updates are sorted by order ID first, then by timestamp.

  • If you search by order ID, it will override other filters. This means that the date that you input in the search parameters will not be considered.

To use the said feature, please follow these steps:

  1. In Toast Web, navigate to Payments > Transactions & refund > Find checks & issue refund.

  2. Search for an order by using any of the following search options:

    • Find by Check Number

    • Find by ID

    • Find by Customer Info

    • Find by Credit Card

    • Advanced Search

  3. Select the item that you wish to view.

  4. In the Order Details pop-up window, select View Update History.

  5. Then, it will take you to the Audit page where you can view the following columns:

    • Order #: Displays the order #

    • Update Time: Displays the timestamp as to when the order was last updated

    • User: Displays the name of the user who processed the order

    • Device ID: Displays the device ID number that was used for the transaction

    • Operation: Displays the type of action that was performed

    • Type: Displays the type of transaction

    • Name: Displays the Order Number

    • Changes: Displays additional order information. Please select Show to view more information.
