You can completely avoid this error by enabling the automatically approve timesheets feature in Toast Payroll. Review Toast Payroll: Manage Timesheets to discover this feature.

If you receive the Hours Unapproved by Manager error, it is typically because the hours have not been approved on your timesheets. In order to pay employees, timesheets must be approved in Toast Payroll before the associated hours will appear on a payroll run. It is best practice to review each timesheet and its hours before approving it.

To approve individual timesheets, select the green Approve button. To approve multiple timesheets:

  1. In Toast Payroll, navigate to Time.

  2. Open the drop-down menu above the Payroll column and select only the payroll you're approving for. This will make it easier to locate every applicable timesheet.

  3. Select the box next to each appropriate employee. Otherwise, to select all timesheets, select the box at the top next to Last Name.

  4. Select Approve All at the bottom of the page.
