If you’re seeing a REF Code 105-1 (REF 1051) error message on your Toast device, it means that your device requires a firmware update.
If your Toast device has stopped processing payments and you’re seeing a REF Code 105-2 (REF 1052) error message on your screen, it means that your device requires a firmware update.
In either case, to ensure that your device meets Toast’s safety and security standards, we highly recommend that you complete the following steps.
Update Your Toast Flex Firmware
To update your Toast Flex firmware:
Open the Toast POS app.
Then swipe up to display the Android navigation bar.
Select the home button.
From the Android home screen, navigate to Settings > System > System updates.
Then, select Check the update. Once selected, it will enable your device to check for the latest updates. You may need to select it multiple times to trigger the update.
After an update is detected, select Reboot the update.
Note: During this process, your device may turn off and on several times.
Once your device firmware is updated, you will be prompted to complete a brief setup steps.

Update Your Toast Go® 2 Firmware
To update your Toast Go® 2 firmware:
Open the Toast POS app.
Then swipe up to display the Android navigation bar.
Select the home button.
From the Android home screen, navigate to Settings > System > Advanced > System Updates. Once selected, it will enable your device to check for the latest updates. You may need to select it multiple times to trigger the update.
Then, select Check the update. Once selected, it will enable your device to check for the latest updates. You may need to select it multiple times to trigger the update.
After an update is detected, select Restart Now to apply the update to your device.
Complete the setup process by following the instructions displayed on your device screen.
