Create Automated Campaigns by Location

Learn how to turn on and off automated campaigns for individual locations and customize the campaigns with each location’s branding and cont

Restaurant groups with multiple locations, particularly those with multiple concepts, have distinct brands, audiences, and marketing tactics. This feature allows restaurants to choose which locations they want to leverage automated email campaigns for and to customize the content and branding for those campaigns so that they reflect the location’s brand.

  • Customers can choose to enable certain automated campaign types for some locations but not others

  • Location-specific automated campaigns target only guests of that location, rather than guests of any restaurant in the group

Automated Campaigns: Overview

Effortlessly engage your guests with automated email campaigns. Toast Marketing empowers you to build lasting relationships by automatically sending recurring emails to your valued customers. Whether you want to reach all guests across your entire restaurant group or target specific locations, you can easily set it up. Plus, you can precisely target guest segments based on criteria in your customer email list, ensuring your messages resonate with the right audience.

There are four options for automated campaigns in Toast Marketing:

  1. Welcome New Guests: Automatically greet guests who've just shared their email, whether at a single location or across your entire group, making a fantastic first impression. Note: This campaign is specifically for new email sign-ups and excludes new Toast Rewards members who receive a separate welcome with their program details.

  2. Miss You: Automatically reach out to guests who haven't visited any of your locations for the number of days that you set (i.e., 30 days) or more, reminding them why they love your food and encouraging a return visit. For multi-location groups, this campaign intelligently considers visits to any of your restaurants.

  3. Repeat Spenders: Show your appreciation for your regulars! Automatically send a thank you message or a special offer after every 5th visit, fostering loyalty and encouraging them to keep coming back to any of your locations.

  4. Big Spenders: Recognize and reward your high-value customers. Set a custom spending threshold, and Toast Marketing will automatically send a thank you or exclusive offer to guests whose average check exceeds it, either at a specific restaurant or across your entire group.

Set Up an Automated Campaign by Location

Reach your guests, your way. If you manage multiple restaurants, Toast's Email Marketing gives you the flexibility to connect with your customers across your entire group or focus on specific locations, all through automated email campaigns. Follow the steps below to set up your automated campaigns by location:

  1. In Toast Web, navigate to Guest engagement > Email campaign and select Create new.

  2. Select Automated campaign. Then, your campaign type.

  3. In this next section, you will be able to select one of the following:

    1. Restaurant Group: When this toggle is selected, you can customize and turn on and off each campaign type for the group.

    2. Each Location: When this toggle is selected, you can choose a specific location from the dropdown menu to customize your automated campaigns. If you activate an automated campaign for a specific location, only guests from that location are targeted with the campaign.

  4. Next, select your campaign. In this example, we’ll choose to Remind guests to visit again and then select Edit details.

  5. Next, select Edit Email Content. Here is where you can edit the design of your email campaign. Be sure to Save any changes.

  6. Optional - In the following steps, choose your Start and End dates, then Guests who have not ordered in the past… Note: Guests who have not ordered in the past…selectionis based on the last time a guest placed an order with the restaurant.

  7. Once complete, select Start campaign. Note: The step-by-step process for automated campaigns can be repeated for each location you would like to enable automated campaigns.
