Frequently Asked Questions
How can I prepare for these changes before I'm prompted to update my firmware or networking setup?
In most cases, you can prepare for these changes by removing non-Toast applications from your Toast devices and remove any non-Toast devices using your Toast secured network.
For more information on removing non-Toast applications, see Remove Non-Toast Apps from a Toast Device.
Toast devices in your restaurant will then be migrated over to a Toast network with enhanced security and will only be able to run toasttab.com traffic. This means your Toast devices will no longer be able to access other websites including social media, your personal website, and more.
How can I install non-Toast apps on my Toast devices?
You can't install and run third-party apps on Toast devices. This is important for the safety of your network.
I receive third-party online orders on a non-Toast tablet and print them out on a Toast printer. Will this setup continue to work?
No. Since the non-Toast tablet cannot connect to the dedicated Toast Wi-Fi, you won't be able to send information to the Toast printer. To streamline your third-party online ordering workflow, check out the online ordering integrations available through Toast.
My Toast device is on the wrong network. How do I reconnect it to the _Toast Wi-Fi?
Power cycle your device.
Forget all networks on your Toast device.
Sign out of the Toast app completely so that the app is prompting you for your email address and password.
Go to Wi-Fi settings and connect to the network ending in "_Secured". If you need to find your Toast _Secure Wi-Fi password follow the directions in this Support Center article, Locate Your Toast Wi-Fi Password.
Go to the Toast app and log in with your email address and password. Then use your passcode to clock into your device.
The device should now automatically connect to the network ending in "_Toast".
How can I make sure my Toast devices stay on the right Wi-Fi network?
To make sure your Toast devices connect only to the secure network (named Your Restaurant Name_Toast), follow these steps:
Open Wi-Fi settings.
Forget all networks on the device except for the networks with names ending in _Toast.
Repeat this process on all Toast devices at your restaurant that connect over Wi-Fi. If you need to find your Toast _Secure Wi-Fi password, follow the directions in this Support Center article, Locate Your Toast Wi-Fi Password.
I'm unable to process card payments at my restaurant due to device security issues. Can I still process payments for orders placed online?
Yes. If you're unable to process card payments at your restaurant due to device security issues, you can still successfully process card payments for orders placed through Toast online ordering or a third-party online ordering integration. You can also successfully process credit card payments for mobile payments and Toast Order & Pay™ orders.
To resolve device security issues, please follow the prompts shown in the Toast app on your device. If you need additional support, please contact Toast Customer Care.
