Question
How do I show or hide menus, menu groups or menu items on my Toast Online Ordering page?
Answer
In Toast Web, navigate to Menus > Bulk management > Advanced properties.
Open the Show/Hide drop-down menu, and select the Visible To option.
Use the arrows next to your menu names to expand your menus until you see the menus, menu groups, or items that you'd like to update.
Open the Visible Todrop-down next to the menu/menu group/item and select Online orders: Toast and Online orders: Partners for any part of your menu that you'd like to show online. Note:Should you need to hide a menu, group, or item from your Toast Online Ordering page, simply deselect the Online orders: Toast and Online orders: Partners checkboxes.
Select Save and Publish Now to finalize your changes. Note: If the 'Visible To' column is missing from the Advanced Properties section, you can add it by using the 'Show/Hide Column' option available at the top-right corner of the page. For liquor menus, ensure visibility is configured under the Liquor tab and confirm compliance with state regulations for online alcohol sales. Configure time-based visibility, schedule menu availability, and online ordering hours under Takeout & Delivery > Online Ordering Hours. Ensure schedules are not unintentionally restricting visibility.
If you’re having trouble with a menu item not showing up in your POS, and you’ve confirmed through this process that the item is already selected to “show,” be sure that the item has been added to a particular menu or group. You can do this by following these steps:
Navigate to the menu group to which you want to add the item.
Select the dropdown arrow next to + Add.
Select Add Existing Items.
Enter your item in the search bar.
Select the desired item.
Select Done. Be sure to Save and Publish all changes!
Verify that external website links to your Toast-powered online menu are correct, especially if using a third-party provider. Any incorrect links can cause visibility issues.
Adjust scheduling options for pre-ordering menus when necessary to ensure proper timing configurations.
Prevent Future Visibility Issues
Conduct routine checks of visibility settings after updates or adding new menus.
Avoid limiting online ordering hours excessively as restrictive schedules could result in empty online menus.
