Ensure that the employee you are assigning the cash drawer to has the correct permissions. They should have Cash Drawers (Full) or Cash Drawers (Blind)
If the user is a manager or shift leader, and you don't want them to have to lock themselves to a cash drawer:
Navigate to Team > Employees.
Select the edit pencil for an employee.
Select the Edit custom permissions tab and set permission 3.19 Cash Drawer Lockdown (Override) to Custom for this employee at this location and Always enabled (unless the permission is already set to Default to job or location group setting and Enabled).
Save and publish your changes
Note:This setting is also something we suggest if you want a specific employee to close out a cash drawer, even if its locked to another user
Note: If an employee is locked to a cash drawer, they will be required to close the drawer during their shift review.
For an employee assigned a Cashier role to lock down a cash drawer to themselves (no manager required):
On the main menu of the Toast app on your POS, select Cash Drawers and then select the drawer you want to attach to.
Select the open lock icon next to the drawer name.
On the pop-up screen, select Lock.
Select Go.
The cash drawer will now show a closed lock icon and the name of the employee associated with the drawer.
