Set a Default Time Increment for Precision Time Planning

Learn how to set a default time increment to snap tickets to the timeline in 24x7 plans.

Written by Corrine Shuler

When using Precision Time Planning (PTP), you can set a default time increment to make it easier to place tickets on the timeline. Instead of manually positioning a ticket at an exact minute, tickets will snap to defined time increments as you drag them.

The Default Time Increment is set at the project level and applies to any plans within the project that use a 24x7 schedule. By default, the time increment is set to 60 minutes.

Set the Default Time Increment

  1. Click the three dots next to the project name.

  2. Select Project Settings at the bottom of the drop-down menu.

  3. Navigate to the Time and Schedule Settings tab.

  4. Under the 24x7 Plans section, use the Default Time Increment drop-down menu to select your preferred increment.

    1. You can choose from the following options: 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, or 60 minutes.

  5. Click Save to apply your changes.

How Ticket Snapping Works

Once a default time increment is selected, tickets in plans configured with a 24x7 schedule will snap to that increment when you drag them across the timeline.

For example, if the Default Time Increment is set to 15 minutes, tickets will snap to 15-minute intervals as you position them on the timeline.

Note

The Default Time Increment only affects plans configured with a 24x7 schedule. Plans that are not configured for 24x7 scheduling will continue to use their existing daily planning behavior.
