Emailing Event Registration Links

Updated over 4 months ago

This feature is only available with the following products:

When using Event and League Registration, a great way to get players registered for events and leagues is by emailing them the links to register. However, it is very important to send the correct registration link.

In this article, we will discuss how and when the three different registration links are to be used.

Types of Registration Links:

There are three different registration links:

  1. GGID Links: This link can be found by going to Customer Center > Events, Leagues & Trips > GGID Links or within the event by going to Event/League > Registration Center> Registration Enablement. For complete details, Click Here.

  2. SSO Links: This link can be found by going to the Customer Center > Customer Settings > Integrations > SSO Links.

  3. Standard Links: The URL is [prefix].golfgenius.com/register

Selecting the correct link:

Each type of link should only be used in certain situations. Using the incorrect link may restrict the players from being able to register.

Take a look at the decision tree above to help you determine what links to use. Here are the scenarios:

  • Guest Registration: For all guest-only (players not in the master roster) registration, we suggest using GGID Links. These links will give the guests access to private pages on the portal (if any). (Note: In the unlikely scenario that you do not want guests to have access to private pages on the portal, but still allow them to register, use Standard Links.)

  • Member Registration for Non-SSO Customers: Customers setting up member registration that do not use SSO should use GGID Links. Members will have access to private pages on the portal (if any) and can also register. When registering, the members will select their name from a dropdown menu and may (depending on what is set up in the registration form) need to validate themselves by answering a question. For details on setting up validation, Click Here.

  • Member Registration for Clubessential, ClubSoft, and Generalized SSO Customers: If using any of these SSO integrations, the SSO Link should be used. When clicking on this link, members will be asked to login to your club website. After logging in, they will be directed to the registration portal page where they can register without having to select their name or validate themselves.

  • Member Registration for other SSO Customers: For all other SSO customers setting up member registration, we suggest emailing your members the link to your club website that will direct them to the Directories. After clicking and logging in to your club website, they can access the portals through the directories and register for events and leagues without logging in again or validating themselves.
