How can I showcase current event leaderboards?

Updated over 4 months ago

This feature is available for the following products:

Q: I would like to showcase current and past events with an easy way to click through to their leaderboards. Is there a way to do this through a standalone webpage or iFrame without manually adjusting the list constantly throughout the year?

A: This can be done with our Directory feature. Here is how to do it:

  1. Create a Directory. For complete details on setting up a Directory, Click Here.

    1. Select specific events or select a category to use for the Directory that you wish to showcase.

      1. You could do this once at the beginning of each year or adjust it periodically throughout the year as needed.

  2. Share the Directory (via standalone page or iFrame). To do this, follow these directions:

    1. Go to Customer Center > Directories & Registration > Directories of Leagues & Events.

    2. Click "Edit and Share" for the Directory you'd like to share.

    3. Then select the "Share" tab.

    4. In the "Advanced" section:

      1. Check the "Hide Events/Leagues without Leaderboards" checkbox. This tells the Directory to show only events that have leaderboards, thereby hiding any events in the future or events without leaderboards.

      2. Check the "Hide Filters" checkbox. This removes the filter fields that normally appear at the top of a Directory page/iFrame (which are not useful in this use case).

    5. You can then share the Directory via the following options:

      1. Link (Standalone Page): The link available is a GGID link. Players accessing the Directory through this link will be logged in with a GGID.

      2. iFrame (Embed into another page): You can place the iFrame code into another website to embed the Directory. Players can then view the embedded Directory on the other website.

Use Cases For Sharing:

  • Standalone Page: The standalone page is useful because it already includes your banner; it looks great and allows you to add this page to your website.

  • Embedded: The iFrame allows you to either:

    • Create your own page (with whatever banner image and other elements you want to add).

    • Or embed it as a small tile on another page.

Additional Key Points:

  • You can create as many of these Directories as you like.

    • For example, you could have one page/iFrame for All Events, Men's Championships, Women's Championships, or any other directory you need.

  • Automatic updates:

    • Whether you use a standalone page or an iFrame, these pages will update automatically to showcase the current/recent events at the top of the page.

    • This is the critical feature that allows you to showcase recent leaderboards without the need for constant manual intervention.
