Do I Need a Master Roster?

Updated over 4 months ago

Q: Do I need a Master Roster?

A: Yes, if you plan to use the Event and League Registration or if you wish to use Single Sign On (SSO) from your club website. Our event registration system distinguishes between members and guests, and a member is anyone listed in your master roster. If you are using our event registration system for outings or other types of events involving no members, then a master roster is not necessary.

If you are using SSO, then you must have a master roster, and it must contain at least one field that is unique - like member number.

While not necessary, a master roster is also useful for creating league and event rosters. When you create a new league or event, one option is to selectively import golfers from the master roster. Another option is to upload a spreadsheet, either downloaded from your event registration system (e.g., ForeTees or your website provider event registration system) or created by you.

To summarize, you must have a master roster if you are using SSO from your club website, or if you are using registration for member events. You may also want to have a master roster if you wish to populate league or event rosters from a common source, that source being the master roster. On the other hand, if you are not using SSO, and have an event registration system that exports spreadsheets, then you can simply upload these spreadsheets to create league and event rosters.
