In some cases, it is necessary link tournaments to produce the desired tournament results. There are three methods of linking tournaments:
Add Results of Selected Tournaments
Keep Best Result of Selected Tournaments
36-Hole Match Play
In this article, we will discuss when and how to set up each method.
Add Results of Selected Tournaments:
Note 1: If the tournament is played within a single round using two person teams, Click Here for the setup instructions instead.
Note 2: Linked tournaments do not need to be created for Ryder Cup style events. Click Here for a tutorial on a Ryder Cup event.
Sometimes a tournament is played using multiple formats (eg alternate shot, scramble, four-ball, etc) that aggregate to a total score. The example leaderboard below shows a linked tournament where the best ball is counted on the first round and the best two balls are counted on the second round.
When multiple formats are used, it is necessary to create a linked tournament in any of the following scenarios:
The tournament is played with team sizes larger than two.
The tournament is played over multiple rounds.
To set up a linked tournament using this method, follow these instructions:
Set up a single round tournament (Rounds > Tournaments > Add New Tournament) for every format. If a different format is played on the front 9 and back 9, create a separate tournament for each. When setting up every tournament format, leave the tie breaking method to "Retain Ties". Automatic tie-breaking cannot be used for linked tournaments.
In order to link tournaments together, some setup parameters must be the same for every tournament. These parameters are:Team list selected
The tee sheet is or may be organized by team
Team Scores will Include

Competition
If the tournament is played over multiple rounds, go to League/Event > Multi-Round Tournaments > Link Tournaments into Aggregate Tournaments. If the tournament is played over a single round, go to Rounds > Tournaments > Add Linked Tournament.
Name the overall Linked Tournament, select the tournaments to be linked, and enter tournament abbreviations (if necessary). The abbreviations will be used on the leaderboard column headers to identify the format for each round.
If there is a tournament that disappears when you select another tournament, that means the two tournaments are not compatible. Like stated above, there are certain parameters that need to be the same in order to link.Below is an example of a 36-hole Linked Tournament where scramble is played on the first round and alternate shot is played on the second round.
Go to the "Advanced Settings" tab and select "Add Results of the Selected Tournaments" (as shown below).
In the "Advanced Settings" tab, enter the points and purse (if any) for the overall linked tournament. If you are managing season points for the season, you can also select the season points category and allocation table to be used for the linked tournament being set up.
Save the linked tournament.
The linked tournament will then be set up.

Keep Best Result of Selected Tournaments (Gross/Net):
For events with multiple tournament competitions, sometimes players can only win points/purse for one of the tournaments. Players will earn points/purse only for the tournament where they finished in a position to earn the most points/purse.
Creating Linked Tournaments with this option is needed for the following scenarios:
Stableford Gross/Net Bias tournaments. Click Here for instructions.
Only a subset of the playing field is competing in one tournament while the entire field is playing in the other (e.g., Senior division where all players are also in the Regular division). Click Here for instructions.
(Note: If the entire field is competing in both tournaments and one tournament is net Stroke Play while the other is gross Stroke Play (using the same format), you can set up a Gross/Net bias tournament. Click Here for instructions.)
36-Hole Match Play:
There are a few different methods to setting up a 36-hole match. One method is to create two rounds, each with a single round match play tournament, and link the tournaments. However, this should only be done if a different 18-hole course is used for both rounds.
