Chromebooks are inexpensive devices and are great for displaying TV leaderboards. Connect a hotspot to a Chromebook and the Chromebook to a TV display, and you are all set to display TV leaderboards.
There are sometimes issues when connecting any computer to a TV display, and this is also the case for Chromebooks. When you connect a Chromebook to a TV display via an HDMI cable and nothing appears on the TV display, try these options:
Option 1 "No Signal":
The first thing to check is to ensure sure that the TV "source" is the same as the HDMI port where your HDMI cable is plugged in. If you are plugged into HDMI Port 3, but the TV is stating "no signal on HDMI port 2", then you know that the TV is set to the wrong source. Either change the source on the TV to the port where you are plugged in or switch the HDMI cable to Port 2.
Option 2 "Blank Screen":
If you do not see a message that states the TV does not see a signal, but the TV remains blank, then you may need to access your display settings on your Chromebook to ensure it is properly mirroring the display to the TV. Sometimes you may need to access these settings, disconnect the mirror, and reconnect. Click Here for details on accessing your display settings.
Option 3 "No Leaderboard Control Box":
If you cannot get the blue control box to appear on the leaderboard when you move the cursor toward the top of the page in the middle horizontally, unplug the HDMI cable from the Chromebook. You should then get the blue control box to appear on the leaderboard. Make whatever adjustments you need, then plug the HDMI cable back into the Chromebook. You may get the blue control now, but if not, just unplug the HDMI cable when you need to make additional adjustments.
