Pair and Team Based Roll-Up Competition Setup

Updated over 3 months ago

This feature is available for the following products:

Pair and Team-based Roll-ups Competitions will allow your golfers to build their Pair or Team during the check-in process on the day of play.

Roll-ups provide flexibility to your member competitions and do not require a tee sheet in Golf Genius prior to play. Players simply turn up on the day, check in to the competition via the Club Score Input Terminal or the Golf Genius App, create their Pair / Team, and begin entering scores.

Golf Genius Event Setup

To get your Pair / Team Roll-up competition ready for scoring in Golf Genius, you will need to do the following:

Set Pairing Size to Foursome

Unlike the individual roll-up competition, the pairing size for Pair / Team-based roll-ups must be set to Foursomes. You can set the Pairings Size via the Event Dashboard+ Pairings Tile or the Event / Round Profile.

To set the pairing size, follow these directions:

  1. Go to Event > Event Profile > Rounds & Scheduling. Note: If there are multiple rounds within your event, and you are only running a Roll-up for a specific round, alternatively, go to Rounds > Round Profile > Signups & Scheduling.

  2. In the section Pairing Size, use the drop-down to specify the number of players per pairing group. Select "Foursomes" for this setup (as shown below).

  3. When the "Foursome" option has been selected, you will also have the option to enable default course and default tee by gender (as shown below).

  4. Further, if using the mobile app, you can allow players to choose their course and tee in the "Set Course and Tee in the Mobile App" section (as shown below).

  5. Click "Save.

Enabling Registration in Golf Genius

Now that the round has been created and the tournament set, you can enable registration. To enable registration, follow these directions:

  1. Go to Event > Registration Centre > Registration Enablement (as shown below).

  2. Check the box to "Enable Registration." Note: If enabled, disable registration with credit card payment, as this will not work with this setup.

  3. Go to the "Registration Setup" tab. Select the number of members who can be registered together (as shown below). For a Pair's Roll-up, you must set the minimum and maximum values to be 2 and 2. This means that the player who registers has to add a second player to the registration form.

For a team-based roll-up, we advise you to set the minimum value to 2, but the maximum could be 3 or 4; 3 for teams of 3 and 4 for teams of up to 4 (as shown below).

  4. Optional: Set the default member eligibility criteria. Scroll down to the bottom of this page, select the tab for "Default Member Eligibility Criteria" (as shown below). Here you can set eligibility by Gender, Handicap, Age, and other custom fields. As an example, if this were a Ladies' only competition, then you can select the relevant gender. Similarly, if this were a Junior competition, you could set the Age criteria. Only those who meet the eligibility criteria will be able to register.

  5. Navigate to the "Registration Dates" tab. Set the registration open and close date and time (as shown below). Note: This should be set to the date of the round.

  6. Once the registration options have been set, click "Save." On the day when registration opens, you will see this under Event Administration.

Player Check-in and Entering Scores

Players will be able to register, check-in and enterscores using one of the following options:

Club Score Input Terminal

When your Pair / Team Roll-up is set up, your golfers can check in and create their Pair / Team on the Club Score Input Terminal. Players can see the competition ready for Check-in (as shown below).

Players can then select their partner either by searching their name or scrolling the list. If the Roll-up is an Alt-shot, Greensomes, Foursomes, or a Scramble, the players can see their Team handicap (as shown below).

After checking in, the player will be prompted to log out.

For Score Entry, any member of the Pair or Team can log in to the Club Score Input Terminal and enter scores on behalf of the Team.

Golf Genius or BRS Golf Scoring Mobile App

On the App, golfers will see the Roll-up competition within the Today’s Events menu. They will be able to click Register and build their Pair / Team.

The screenshot below shows the registration form where the player checking in can add their playing partner(s).
