Days till Expiration Report
Days till Expiration or DTE refers to the number of days until your option contract will expire.
The Days Till Expiration report is in the Reports - OPTIONS section.
Let's start by breaking down what each chart refers to.
Trade Distribution by Days Till Expiration:
Reflects the total number of options trades with the corresponding Days Till Expiration.
For example, Below we can see that we took 13 trades with a 2 DTE, where the contract was set to expire 2 days from the trade entry date.
Performance by Days Till Expiration:
Reflects the total performance, or total P&L, for those trades taken with the specified DTE.
For example, I can see that trades that I enter with 1 day till expiration, typically cost me way more money.
Insights:
This helps us evaluate whether we perform better under specific trade criteria. Do I have a better return when I take trades with further-out expirations or same-day expirations?
