How to Use the Smart Status Matcher to Find Your Best Programme Path

The Smart Status Matcher is a two-step tool that analyses your travel habits and budget, then recommends the most achievable and cost-effective path to elite status — across multiple airline programmes and alliances.

Accessing the Smart Status Matcher

Click Smart Status Mat... (Smart Status Matcher) in the left-hand navigation under Smarter Tools. The tool opens on a two-step wizard.

Step 1 of 2 — Your Goals

  1. Select your current Airline: A dropdown shows your connected programmes. Select the programme you fly most (e.g. British Airways).

  2. Choose your target status: Three oneworld alliance tiers are displayed as cards — oneworld Ruby, oneworld Sapphire, and oneworld Emerald. Click your target tier to select it.

  3. Click Next → to proceed to Step 2.

Step 2 of 2 — Your Travel

  • Home airport: Select your usual home airport or type a custom airport code.

  • Annual flight spend: Enter how much you typically spend on flights per year.

  • Typical routes: Add at least one route to unlock exact pricing.

  • Cabin preference: Select your preferred cabin for short-haul and long-haul flights.

  • Advanced constraints (optional): Toggle to add preferred airlines or airlines to avoid.

Click Find best option → to run the analysis.

Understanding the Results Page

  • Best Value programme card: The top recommendation showing total cost, round trips required, timeline in months, and a score out of 100.

  • Alternative programme cards: Other achievable programmes shown for comparison.

  • Transparency section: Explains why the recommendation was made, with a confidence score.

  • Programme comparison table: Side-by-side comparison of cost, timeline, lounge access, baggage, and more.

  • Step-by-step action plan: A numbered roadmap with specific Tier Point targets and deadlines.

Saving a Programme Path as a Goal

Click Save [Programme] to Goals to add the recommended path directly to your Goals page for ongoing tracking.
