How to Send Status Updates (214s)

EDI 214 (Transportation Carrier Shipment Status Message) keeps your trading partners informed about shipment progress. Truckbase automatically sends these updates based on stop status changes.

When Are 214s Sent?

Below are some of the most common examples of when Truckbase sends 214 status updates:

Status Updates Include

Each 214 message contains:

  • Shipment ID - Reference to the original 204

  • Stop Sequence Number - Which stop was updated

  • Status Code - What happened (X1, X3, CD, etc.)

  • Date/Time - When the event occurred

  • Location - Where the event happened (if available)


Manual Status Updates

To manually trigger a 214:

  1. Open the order/trip

  2. Update the stop status (Arrived, Loaded, Departed, etc.)

  3. Save the changes

  4. Truckbase sends the 214 update
