A shopper will see an authorization, or pending charge on their statement -- how it looks will vary depending on the shopper’s bank, but typically authorizations are labeled as "pending", lack a date associated with the charge indicating that the charge has not posted, and could also be shown on the statement in italics or a lighter font to indicate that what the shopper is seeing is not a charge.
