Introduction
Customers love to see visual content that showcases products in real-life situations. To generate more of this engaging content, you can incentivize your customers to share their experience by rewarding them with discounts on their next purchase.
Adding a Discount
Follow the steps below to add a discount to your popup.
One-time discount
Tydal app will create a discount in your Shopify admin every time a customer submits a photo review (e.g. REV-xxxxxxxxxxxx
).
Click Settings in the sidebar menu
Click Discounts
Select Creates a unique one-time discount code for each review
Select your discount type:
Percentage - A percentage of the order total (e.g. 10% off).
Fixed amount - A fixed amount deducted from the total (e.g. $5.00 off)
Enter the discount value in Amount.
Optional: Set the discount expiry (e.g. Never, 30 days, 60 days, 91 days, 182 days, or 365 days)
Click Save.
π Note: If you don't want to give incentives, please select No discount in the dropdown.
Using your own discount code
Click Settings in the sidebar menu
Click Discounts
Select Manual discount code for all customers
Enter the exact code of the discount that you have created in your Shopify admin (e.g. REVIEW2024)
Click Save.

Updating the Popup
If you offer a discount, you may want to edit the text of the popup to reflect this. By default, there are two places on the popup that mention the discount when one is offered:
The Upload Media stage
The Success stage (after the review has been submitted).
If you remove your discount offer, these mentions of a discount will also be removed.
Upload Media text
By default, the subtext on this section will provide the value of the discount the customer receives if they leave a photo review. To edit this text:
Click Onsite in the sidebar menu
Under Write a Review Popup, click Upload Media
In the Upload Buttons section, edit the Sub Text. Use the variable
{{discount_amount}}
to replace it with the discount data provided in your discount settingsClick Save.
Success Page text
This is the final thank you section of the popup that the customer sees when they successfully submit a review.
To edit this text:
Click Onsite in the sidebar menu
Under Write a Review Popup, click Success Page
Edit the texts you consider necessary. In the Use discount section, make sure you include the variable
{{discount_amount}}
to replace it with the discount data provided in your discount settingsClick Save. The discount code will be displayed after the texts, and the result in your store would be something like this:
Common Questions
Can I hide the Upload Media stage?
At this moment, it is not possible to hide this stage, but your customers can click Skip if they don't want to add any media files.
